1994

Over the years, the brothers saw opportunities to move up the value chain and started to carry out sub-contracting works through the provision of a complete supply chain of excavation, earth moving and trucking services. And in 1994, Soon Li Heng Civil Engineering was incorporated.

1975

The history of our group dates back to 1975 when our four founders, Mr Ong Yew Lye, Mr Ong Gim Loo, Mr Ong Gim Leong and Mr Ong Gim Giap came together to establish a business in the provision of building materials transportation services for construction firms.

2004

In the late 90s the brothers realised a potential market in the rental of mild steel plates to the construction industry and ventured into the trading and rental of steel products. Pioneering the steel plate rental industry in Singapore, Soon Lee Heng Trading & Transportation since its incorporation as a private limited company in 2004 has established itself as a leading player in the business.

2014

In 2011, as part of our initiative to promote sustainable construction, the group diversify into the green industry and started recycling concrete aggregates from construction and demolition waste and to better position itself as an environmental solutions provider, Soon Lee Heng Eco Engineering was incorporated in 2014.

2020

Together, these four brothers worked on a series of civil engineering projects and contributed significantly to the changing skyline of a fast growing Singapore. Our companies were responsible for a list of prestigious projects which includes the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, South Beach Mixed Development and several Land Transport Authority underground rail network projects.

1975

Began Operation

Began operation as a transportation company of construction materials for civil engineering and building contractors.

1980

Began specialization works

Moved up value chain and began specializing in civil engineering and excavation works

1994

Incorporation as Private Limited Company

Soon Li Heng Civil Engineering was incorporated on 26th September 1994 as a private limited company.

1998

Secured 1st Major Railway Project

Secured our first major Land Transport Authority (LTA) Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) railway project as a specialist subcontractor for the provision of earthworks at North East Line Contract 704 for the construction of Serangoon and Woodleigh stations and tunnels

1999

North East Line Contract 701

Secured our second consecutive major LTA MRT railway project for the provision of earthworks at North East Line Contract 701 for the construction of Buangkok Green Depot.

2001

Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway Contract 423

Secured our single largest contract for major underground as an earthwork sub-contractor for the construction of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) under Contract 423.

2005

Circle Line Stage 1 Contract 828

Entrusted by Nishimatsu Construction Company and LTA to carry out the excavation works for Circle Line Stage 1 under Contract 828 for the realignment and construction of Nicoll Highway Station and Tunnels after the Nicoll Highway collapse.

2007

Single Largest Trucks Purchase

Single largest purchase of 40 numbers of tipper trucks in support of Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort projects.

Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort

Secured projects for the excavation of the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and District Cooling System.

2009

Achieved OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 9001:2008 & bizSAFE Star Certification

Obtained OHSAS 18001:2007 Certification for Occupational Health & Safety Management System, ISO 9001:2008 Certification for Quality Management System and Workplace Safety & Health Council bizSAFE Level Star Certification.

2011

Achieved ISO 14001:2004 Certification

Obtained ISO 14001:2004 Certification for Environmental Management System and Workplace Safety & Health Council bizSAFE Partner Certification.

Downtown Line Stage 3 Contract 929 & Contract 932A

Secured 2 subcontract for the provision of excavation works at Downtown Line 3 Contract 929 for the construction of Kaki Bukit Station and Contract 932A for the construction of Geylang Bahru Station.

2012

Awarded 2012 Singapore Enterprise 50 Awards

Awarded the 2012 Singapore Enterprise 50 Awards (15th position), we are recognised as the fifty most enterprising privately-owned local companies in Singapore.

2013

Winner 2013 Singapore Enterprise 50 Awards

Our company was awarded 1st position and winner of the Singapore Enterprise 50 Awards in 2013. All Directors of Soon Li Heng Civil Engineering was present to receive the award on that momentous night.

2014

Awarded Subcontractor’s Safety Recognition Award

Awarded Subcontractor’s Safety Recognition Award in Land Transport Authority 16th Annual Safety Award Convention, in recognition of our good workplace safety and health management.

Thomson Line Contract T228

Secured subcontract for the provision of excavation works at Thomson Line Contract T228 for the construction of Gardens by the Bay Station and Tunnels.

Changi Airport Terminal 4

Secured earthworks and soil improvement projects for the construction of Changi Airport Terminal 4

2015

2015 Awarded bizSAFE Enterprise Exemplary Award & bizSAFE Champion Award

Awarded the bizSAFE Enterprise Exemplary Award & bizSAFE Champion Award in bizSAFE Convention 2015, we are recognised by the Workplace Safety & Health Council (WSHC) to have demonstrated commendable WSH performance through the implementation of excellent risk management plans.

2016

Acquisition of 110/112 Killiney Road, Tai Wah Building

Acquired prime freehold commercial properties in Killiney Road for S$20 million from Isetan Singapore Limited and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited for long term investment.

Secured development site in JTC Corporation Industrial Government Land Sales

Sponsorship of mild steel plates for National Day Parade at the Padang in celebration of Singapore’s Golden Jubilee.

2017

Inauguration of the Group’s newly built head office. The Group officially moved in thereafter.

Divestment of Tai Wah Building

Divestment of 110/112 Killiney Road, Tai Wah Building to Lucrum Capital Pte Ltd

Set up fund for local enterprises

Set up a mechanism of support to provide financing help to local enterprises. The fund is use to provide short-term working capital loans to viable companies.

Disburse of funds to SGX listed companies in a Convertible Loan Agreements.

2018

Granted Patent by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore

The invention relates broadly, but not extensively, to a metal support for lifting of metal objects.

2020

As part of the Group’s commitment to strategic investment, the Group made substantial capital investment into financial markets

2021

Purchased Tean Chay Crane Rental Pte Ltd’s entire steel plate assets through a merger and acquisition exercise

We promote sustainable practices such as recycling of concrete waste materials from construction debris for use in the construction of roads & drains.
